Mechanical Keyboard Recommendations?

I like Brown, the Corsair I use has them, but I’d be happy with that same tactile in a silent package. I don’t think it’s possible? O-rings help a bit…

I prefer the Topre switches (made popular by Happy Hacking keyboarda). I have a RealForce 104 key. Fairly silent, too.
(I’m not gaming much, no idea if it’s good for that.)

I’ve been a MX Black and Brown user for several year. Using MX Silver now.
Still got MX Brown in a spare keyboard, but those Silver also feel really good.

Mhmm now i am looking to the Ducky shine 7 sadly i am very unsure about taking a keyboard with the numpad or not I have a logitech g pro that I won in a Lan recently at home I never use the numpad but at work maybe a numpad is better I am used to it.

Mx silent is really a must at my work since it’s an open office what do you guys think? Ducky Shine 7 (CH, Cable) - buy at digitec

Resurrecting this long dead thread  I happily used my Lily58 Pro for everything up until June 2024. I ended up moving to something new after accepting the well-known issue that the thumb cluster isn’t well designed (which is why the Sofle was created).

After a few months deliberating, I finally decided to go with the Kinesis Advantage360 with Gateron Brown switches. In the process of getting used to it’s very unique layout, I actually used pieces of card to force each of my fingers to stay in their appropriate columns (on a traditional keyboard I only type with 3 fingers total, I managed to improve this a bit with my Lily58 Pro, but figured now would be the time to fix it properly).

My lord, this is the comfiest keyboard I’ve ever used in my life! I love using this thing every day, and would strongly recommend it to anyone regularly typing a lot. My only pain point has been gaming; due to the varying key heights and correct finger placement, you end up having to re-bind all keys one key to the right for each game. Of course, you could setup a profile on the keyboard directly that does this for you; however, then all of your keys will be mislabelled in-game :stuck_out_tongue:

Wow, interesting layout. I haven’t tried (or even heard about) those switches. My keyboard is a boring looking 102 key RealForce Topre switch keyboard. I like it very much.
There’s quite a few more Topre options these days, like here:

Not sure how it’s with gaming, though. (I’m not gaming, just sysadmin and coding.) :innocent:

Since this thread came back from the dead, I am still on a Redragon keyboard. I bought a second “identical” one and the original one is at the office. The switches are very different than the first even though they are supposed to be identical, but still pretty good. The original I purchased June 18, 2019, and the newer one I purchased on May 16, 2022.

For both of them, I’ve had a number of switches that started not working every time, so I’ve moved those from more active keys to less active keys.

Overall, for the prices I paid (less than $50 each), they have performed pretty well, especially with how much I abuse the keys… (I tend to type with a lot of… gusto?)

Glad to hear they’ve held up well enough, considering the price! I know Redragon are supposed to be excellent budget boards.

I still can’t recommend the Kinesis enough, if you’re ever interested in trying out a whole new layout
