A couple of months ago I switched to MS OneNote on desktop and Google Keep has been my goto on mobile for some time now.
On Linux, if it works with your distribution (it has been tested on Ubuntu, Fedora, Gnome and Mint), the recommended way is to use this script as it will handle the desktop icon too:
Not completely to be pedandicks, but since when is “Gnome” a distribution? How can someone make a multiplatform application and not know the difference between a WM and a distribu… is this written in Node, or Python?
Important: First, install Node 8+. Node 8 is LTS but not yet available everywhere so you might need to manually install it.

For notes+wiki+journalling I’ve settled on flat files (ZimWiki) synced to Seafile(on a LUKS volume on a dedi).
I can edit it on any platform with a text editor.
Some day I will check out org-mode; Don’t have the time now.
